And you thought your renovations cost a lot! The Brisbane Marriott Hotel has spent $4.25 million on a refurbishment, focusing on state-of-the-art in room technology and guest comfort.
In an Australian first, all 267 guest rooms have been updated with a high definition LCD screen TV, which also allow guests to connect and play their own MP3s, laptops, DVDs and games via an Australian first – ‘plug-in’ technology.
Brisbane Marriott Hotel Director of Sales and Marketing Mr Jago Coyle said the addition of ‘plug-in’ technology meant the hotel’s rooms were now fully compatible with the way guests work and play.
“We know our guests want the latest technology, and ‘plug-in’ delivers that – whether they want to work in their room or relax with personal MP3 or DVD movies or a combination of both, this system allows our guests to tailor the system to their needs,” said Mr Coyle.
So, guests who are carrying their trusty MP3 player, digital camera or laptop can take advantage of the new technology to transform their hotel room into a place to listen to their own music, watch a favourite DVD or simply do work on their computer with a large screen display.
The Brisbane Marriott is the first and only Australian hotel to have this interactive technology.
In addition to the technological renovations, each room is fitted out with rich soft furnishings including new carpets, curtains and fresh upholstery. The latest refurbishment complements the hotel’s recent complete makeover of its guest room beds to feature Marriott’s new, more luxurious bedding with softer sheets, feather doonas, more pillows and a fresh look.
The Executive Lounge includes a new bar and buffet area, featuring LCD Televisions and new sound system providing a sophisticated spot overlooking the Brisbane River.
The Brisbane Marriott Hotel has also installed energy efficient lighting and converted the hotel to being 100% smoke free. The Hotel is now recognised as an environmentally conscientious hotel after receiving the five ‘green’ environmental star rating from AAA Tourism.
