All of the top four spots for the title of ‘Brisbane's best park' were taken by parks that are beside the river or bay, where cool breezes and views are guaranteed. But it was an incredibly close contest between two of Brisbane's most well-known parks. The battle for number one was between old favourite New Farm Park and slick South Bank Parklands in the city.
They are quite different parks and destinations but either are a good spot to enjoy relaxing, any time of the week. Amazingly, it only came down to a difference of two votes (who said your vote wouldn't count?) and South Bank Parklands (with 19.6%) pipped New Farm Park (with 19.1%) as the winner.
Perhaps the winning factor for these parks is that they offer something for everyone - families, active people and large groups.
The next most popular park was Wynnum wading pool and park with over 16% of votes. Bayside locals will be happy to get recognition for this waterfront recreational space.
Water frontage wasn't enough to make Captain Burke Park at Kangaroo Point score well. With less than 1% of the votes, is this park a hidden gem or simply not comparable to the city's best parks?
