When holidays loom, or it's a long weekend perhaps, where do the people of Brisbane love to escape to? Well, according to our poll it's clear that the beaches, dining and beauty spots of the Sunshine Coast are the winner.

Almost 38% of us chose that as our number one destination for a break.

It was a bit surprising to see how far back in the popularity race the Gold Coast came. The glamourous GC scored only half the number of votes of the Sunshine Coast.

Even more surprising (although perhaps it shouldn't be in the current financial mood) was the tendency for people to opt to escape in their home town of Brisbane for some rest and relaxation. The attractions of Brisbane even scored better (just) than the temptations of Kingscliff and Byron Bay in Northern New South Wales. So there!
