Brisbane is a city made for alfresco dining. Our wonderful climate means it's possible, in fact desirable, to sit outside for most of the year, watching a passing parade of people as we sip and dine.
There aren't just a few places we can recommend for a great alfresco experience. There are great precincts and whole streets where it's de rigeur to sit outside and enjoy the view.
Park Road, Milton
This was one of Brisbane's first areas to embrace outdoor dining. Almost every establishment in this popular strip has alfresco seating but the
know how to do it with style. These European-inspired eating places have obviously adopted a European style of alfresco habits too.
James Street, New Farm
It's hard to believe this street used to be an industrial heartland. These days, it's the street for the beautiful people, eating at beautiful outdoor dining spaces. Try:
- Harvey's
- Luxe
- Cru bar (defined by flowing curtains and window edge seats)
- James Street Bistro and
- Lunar Lounge
Little Stanley St & Grey St, South Bank
Again, these boulevards are a haven for food fans who love the outdoors. Piaf is a French bistro that barely has walls. Or diners can choose inside or outside tables at:
And plenty more. Simply wander up and down and dine on whichever cuisine whets your appetite. South Bank Parklands offer many more alfresco dining options.
Emporium, Fortitude Valley
Tucked within a large circle of car parking you'll find lots of alfresco dining options at Emporium. The dining spaces nestle next to each other but
are popular eateries.
Another few top choices that aren't part of a larger precinct are:
Watt and Bar Alto at Brisbane Powerhouse. The outside tables at both establishments will have you right next to the river and in good weather, nothing could be finer. Oh and by the way, the food's pretty good too.
Eve's on the Park at Roma Street Parklands gives you a lush green view of these formal inner city gardens.
Our recommendations can't possibly mention all the good alfresco dining spots in Brisbane - there are simply too many.
