How many times have you said you can't dine out often any more because there is nowhere to take the kids? That excuse just doesn't cut it anymore.
Brisbane has a great range of places where the kids are welcome and the menu has been designed to cater for their tastes – without blowing your budget!
Most youngsters like spring rolls and fried rice, so Chinatown is the ideal place to take them. It also provides the opportunity to introduce them to a wider selection of Asian foods – and at the right price! Here you can introduce your children to not only the cuisine, but also the culture of other countries.
The Tibetan Kitchen in Brunswick Street is a perfect example of Brisbane’s kid-friendly restaurants. The children will be entranced by the exotic décor and the staff can make suggestions on what to select from the range of Traditional Tibetan, Sherpan and Nepalese food.
Because of the atmosphere and budget-conscious prices, food courts are popular with families.
Places like the Sizzler family restaurant in the Myer Centre, which offer buffet style salad and dessert bars, are always popular with the kids. For Mum and Dad there is a full menu and it’s licensed.
You can be sure to find something for the most demanding young diner.
Also in the Myer Centre is the Sushi Train that welcomes young diners. Selections on small plates are hauled around a large counter by trains on train tracks so that you pick up what you fancy as the train goes past. The Sushi Train not only offers healthy, affordable meals but provides great entertainment for the kids as well.
South Bank offers a number of child-friendly restaurants across a wide price range offering many different types of food.
If you’re after seafood, give Decks a try – it’s fully licensed and they welcome children. There’s Amici’s Pizza Café, where you can sit outside and enjoy the wildlife. The kids can pick from the great Bambini Menu. Or for Asian, give Wang Dynasty a go – along with more traditional fare, their menu offers kangaroo and crocodile. That’ll give the kids something to talk about.
There are more than thirty restaurants at South Bank where you can introduce the kids to Italian, Greek, Lebanese, Turkish, Asian or Australian cuisine, with all budgets catered for.
There are plenty of other places where you can be sure to find something for the most demanding young diner. Try Broadway on the Mall with fourteen great food outlets and Macarthur Central, which offers a carvery, a sushi bar, Turkish food and a full range of pasta dishes.
Wintergarden on the lower level of the Queen Street Mall has thirteen food outlets, including the ever-popular McDonalds. The Myer Centre also has an extensive and interesting selection of food from thirty outlets.
There is plenty of public parking in the City, Chinatown and South Bank, so this week decide to have a meal out with the whole family.
