Years ago, Teneriffe was an industrial heartland and wharf for Brisbane. The dining scene would have been lucky to have included a couple of greasy spoon cafes and a pie van. But today, with the trend to live inner-city and convert the old warehouses into fantastic residential apartments, it's only natural there's now a thriving dining precinct.
Most of Teneriffe's restaurants are within a small area along Vernon Terrace, just beside the Brisbane river. Stroll between the venues, enjoying the tree-lined street and landscape of restored industrial buildings.
Girder Bar - relax in the warm wood décor, choose from a small selection of gourmet tapas or the extensive wine, beer and spirit list. Anyone for a $300 bottle of French champagne?
Mizu Japanese - the night we went it was full with travelling Japanese businessmen, a good sign about the quality and authenticity of the food. Small, personal and offering something a little bit different to other Japanese places. A few minutes walk towards New Farm, from the main Teneriffe area.
Eves on the River - a Teneriffe mainstay and long-established dining venue on the river's edge. Popular with wedding parties too.
Miro's Spanish Restaurant - technically, is this in New Farm or Teneriffe? Either way, it's worth a visit for wonderful Spanish food and only a ten minute stroll from Teneriffe's offerings.
Aqua Linea restaurant - with river views and open for lunch and dinner and brekky on the weekends.
Platform 6 Food and Wine Bar (becomes Station 8 at night) - with plates of grazing food as well as substantial mains, dine outside to watch the passing parade of people.
Salon Bar Dining - the place for all-day grazing.
Ice Bar and Restaurant - not expensive with an outdoor, relaxed vibe. Takeaway is available.
The London Club - is a restaurant, cocktail and wine bar. Love the sophisticated architecturally designed interior.
Sol Breads - for a casual breakfast, bakery snacks and lunch. Source organic sourdough bread that tastes amazing, baked on the premises and just 2 minutes walk off the main strip.
Beccofino - quality Italian food which always gets great reviews.
Getting there
It's not always easy to park in the suburb during busy nights. Consider catching the 199 bus or the cross-river ferry from Bulimba to Teneriffe. Go to our Transport page for more details.
