Philip Johnson’s e’cco is Brisbane’s most highly awarded restaurant.
Winner of Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant of the Year 1997 and lauded by both international (The New York Times) and local press, e’cco sits on the fringe of Brisbane’s city centre, tucked away within the trendy little dining precinct known as Adelaide Street East.
e’cco offers a simple but first class modern Australian menu. An efficient, uncluttered and polished bistro, its perfectly relaxed ambience is both welcoming and distinctly Brisbane.
With an edgy, urban feel you’d expect from an inner-city favourite, e’cco is known for its simple way with food. Its innovative menu is regularly changing and made from the finest quality ingredients. A favourite dish sure to entice is the goat's cheese panna cotta, baby beetroots, garlic croutons and burnt butter vinaigrette. It’s food like this that highly credited, internationally acclaimed and New Zealand born Chef Philip Johnson is famous for.
Philip’s restaurant, inspired by authentic bistro-style dining in France, was originally an historic tea warehouse and was transformed under his direction into a tidy, stylish, contemporary dining destination. With lots of bright natural light during the day, the interior is fitted with glass, polished Masonite floor, salsa-red and deep purple walls, plain wood tables and chairs, and an open kitchen.
The meals may be in the higher price range but are, without a doubt, worth every cent. e’cco was most recently named the 2007 Queensland State Finalist in the Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant awards. Prepare yourself for a meal to remember.
