Emporium Hotel, the city’s first luxury hotel, is raising the bar again – the Emporium Hotel Cocktail Bar is open for business!

Whether you like your drink shaken or stirred or somewhere in between, the liquid muses at the hotel’s new cocktail bar will create the perfect potion with all the confidence, style, and panache you’d expect from the city’s best. Fronted by uber host Tze-Yuan Choo, affectionately known as “Chewie”, the bar offers a dazzling line-up of exotic cocktails in fashionable surrounds.

A Chewie initiative was to have each bartender bring their own specialty to the table. As a result, the (already extensive) cocktail menu features classic recipes with a modern twist, new drinks and the exclusive use of fresh fruit, fresh juices and herbs. Guests can see which bartender created each cocktail, with the option for the creator to personally make the order.

Order the Appletiser, and master mixologist Chewie will pour a perfect blend of Zubrowka Bison Grass Vodka and Marie Brizard Poire William with half a passion fruit and dash of cloudy apple juice, shaken and double strained into a chilled martini glass and finished with a lemon twist. Heavenly.

“It’s the new era of cocktail-making,” said Chewie. “Gone are flashy, over-created recipes; rather our menu uses the foundations of the classics, and introduces contemporary tastes and mixes.”

The creative approach to drinks also manifests in the bar’s design, which features an eclectic fusion of styles – a combination of antiques pieces from around the world, custom-made retro-look furniture, and the very latest in audio visual technology – an integrated digital screen. An antique German chandelier, originally from a castle in Europe, lights the grand onyx bar. Another stunning feature is an exquisite stained-glass wall, originally a Parisian shopfront crafted more than 100 years ago.

The bar will also offer a “library of wine” featuring some of the world’s best vintages. And, in the tradition of famous cocktail bars around the world, a baby grand piano stands proudly in the entrance area, its ivories played on selected evenings each week.

Setting a new benchmark in Brisbane accommodation, The Emporium Hotel offers 106 luxurious studio suites, all custom designed and individually finished. The hotel also offers 24-hour reception and room service, ensuring that guests feel right at home.
