Shingle Inn's bakers are undertaking their own Olympic effort in the race to produce hundreds of gold patty cakes, for delivery to stores in time for the opening ceremony on 8 August.
Area Manager Karen Milne says, "With each sprinkle of gold dust, our bakers will send a message of support to our Olympians, helping them bring home gold."
Patty cakes, Shingle Inn's most famous and popular product will each be adorned with either a sprinkle of gold dust or a gold, chocolate medallion and will be available throughout the Olympics for customers wanting to feel part of the excitement.
"Gold supremacy is our wish for our Olympic team this year. But of course Shingle Inn's gold is edible and tasty. It might not be quite as sweet as winning a gold medal, but it comes close."
