Lure Seafood Restaurant, The Coro’s feature restaurant, topped the country’s most prestigious culinary honours list at the annual Restaurant and Caterers Association’s National Awards for Excellence.
In a glittering ceremony held at the Palladium at Crown in Melbourne, Brisbane’s Lure restaurant was named both Best New Restaurant and Best New Seafood Restaurant beating an exceptional list of contenders from across Australia.
The awards topped off a spectacular year for the Brisbane newcomer, with The Coro having claimed both the state and regional titles for Best New Restaurant, Best New Seafood restaurant, and Restaurant of the Year, Informal Dining before progressing to the national finals.
Owner Jack Zappala, said “the awards are a fitting testament to the continuing success of The Coro as one of the city’s finest dining destinations. To receive such recognition in our first year is absolutely fantastic”.
The Coro proved to be a popular and deserving winner from an esteemed list of worthy challengers across the two award categories which included Sydney’s Puntino Trattoria, Tutto Bene of Southbank in Melbourne and Pier, in Rose Bay, Sydney.
Mr Zappala paid tribute to his business partner and venue operator, Geoff Lewis and thanked his entire staff with special recognition going to Restaurant Manager, Lisa Parker and in particular to Executive Chef, Mark Maric for his innovation, initiative, commitment to excellence, and unwavering dedication to finding the best and freshest ingredients.
