Queensland lovers of Krispy Kreme doughnuts are lining up to get their doughnut fix at the first Brisbane store.

On opening day Tuesday 29 April, Brisbane fans chomped their way through 5,000 dozen doughnuts (that's 60,000 doughnuts in one day!).

The first customer through the door of the store at the corner of Albert and Adelaide Street was Neil Abraham. He camped out from early morning with his family of seven children to win themselves a year's supply of doughnuts (one dozen original glazed doughnuts per week for 52 weeks).

An exclusive Queensland doughnut with maroon and white sprinkles was announced as the winner of the Krispy Kreme poll. It will be sold from 21 May, in time for State of Origin.

Customers can enjoy all 15 signature doughnuts, locally cooked for the first time, plus hand crafted coffee from Krispy Kreme's team of baristas, frothy ol' fashioned milkshakes and splurpy-licious spiders. The store is open until midnight each day.

Chief Executive Officer of Krispy Kreme Australia, John McGuigan, said "The opening of our first Brisbane store is a major milestone."

"We've employed 100 new recruits now working across the retail and production operations, taking Krispy Kreme's total employee count to 1,000," added John.
