Q: I was thinking of using my washing up water and clothes washing rinse water to water the veggie garden. I use a phosphate free detergent. Would this cause any problems for my plants? Leesa – Bracken Ridge

A: ‘Washing up water and clothes washing rinse water’ is generally referred to as ‘grey water’.

Local government has stipulated various rules and conditions for the use of grey water in one’s garden, and especially in the veggie garden.

I cannot recommend anything other than what these laws state, Leesa. It is best to check with your local council office as to what is permitted.
