Every week, at more than 50 local parks across Brisbane, residents are enjoying mostly free activities, from art to group fitness sessions, as part of Brisbane City Council’s Active Parks program.

The Active Parks program offers something for everyone. Whether you’re six months, six years or sixty there’s an activity for you. Apart from the sheer enjoyment of getting out and having fun in some of the city’s great “green” locations, you’ll also benefit from better health, improved well being, personal interaction and enhanced skills.

Brisbane enjoys a fantastic climate, perfect for outdoor recreation – make the most of it!

Here’s a taste of the different types of activities on offer:

  • Active parents/kids sports/toddler sports – three activities running simultaneously that will get the whole family involved in fun and fitness
  • Tai Chi – learn basic stretching and breathing techniques, and acquire some serenity in the process!
  • Bollywood fun and fitness – something original to keep children active and fit
  • Fitbox and boxing for fitness – come and try the latest fitness equipment and find out how to tone up faster
  • Treasure hunt – use the treasure map to find the clues and solve the puzzle to find the treasure
  • Yoga in the park – stretch the body, quieten the mind and feel more centred
  • Foils and fun – come and try the romantic sport of fencing with tuition by qualified coaches
  • Group training – try out personal training in a relaxed, small group environment
  • Orienteering – explore and enjoy your neighbourhood while navigating a specially designed orienteering course

There are also bike rides and canoe trips galore to help you grab some exercise while you explore and learn more about our city.

Most activities don’t require booking – just show up on the day and join in the fun. For some activities such as bike rides and fishing, however, bookings are required. This is to ensure that participants receive the attention they deserve and get the most out of their experience.

Check out all the location and activity details and get active.
