Indoor cricket
And of course, cricket doesn't have to be played outdoors. It's very likely that the 'corridor cricket' we annoyed our mothers with as kids grew up to become indoor cricket.
Indoor Cricket Queensland has information about the State Association along with news, photo gallery, calendar, competition results, training courses and merchandise. It also contains a directory of association centres.
Australian Indoor Cricket Federation website focuses on indoor cricket in Australia, with news, schedules and results of National and International indoor cricket competitions. Includes photograph gallery, merchandise for sale, and the complete rules.
Backyard and beach cricket
You really know it’s summer when you hear the thwack of the cricket ball on willow and the calming sounds of cricket commentary on the radio or telly. And there can hardly be a better way to spend a summer afternoon than playing a competitive game of backyard (or park or beach) cricket with friends.
It seems every family has their own refinements but there are a few universal rules for backyard cricket and beach cricket. The main rule is, of course, to have fun!
