He started playing in bands but discovered a predisposition for silliness. He acted, then directed a lot, wrote a bit and worked as a university lecturer for a while…but always with extraordinary, funny, joyous, hard-working people – and sometimes he “walked with immortality”. Good art can do that.
What’s your favourite:
Word: stupid (it’s what I do…).
Drink: a very cold beer, followed by several more.
Fruit: I like a good banana.
Place for a holiday: up with my sister and mum at Airlie Beach.
Website: www.laboite.com.au
Thing to eat for breakfast: I’m a bit of a dingo really (drink of water and a look around). I have never been able to eat until about lunchtime.
Way to spend Sunday afternoon: cave bear stuff … lying horizontal in a dark room surrounded by beer and bananas.
View in Brisbane: outside my office at the Roundhouse Theatre (the whole CBD in panorama!).
What’s your middle name – does it have special significance? Lanigan. It’s my mother’s maiden name and the connection to my Irish ancestry.
Do you still have anything from your childhood? A card expressing eternal love from my very first friend, who was a girl. Thanks Jennifer.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Paris.
What can’t you live without? Clever people doing silly things to make other people laugh out loud loudly.
