Q: Most of my Rhoeo are very healthy but some are very pale and washed out. Wendy - Red Hill

A: Rhoeo are very hardy, very drought resistant plants – BUT, a hard and compacted soil can affect their growth. This is probably your problem.

There can often be isolated hard and compacted bits of soil within a very small area. Poke a fork through your clump of rhoeo, loosen the soil, and give the clump a heavy watering just once.

Do that to your whole clump, and not just to the yellowing, ‘washed out’ section. You should solve your problem.
