Valley shopping

Home to Brisbane's urban style
More like this:
Jean Brown at Emporium

Fresh fashion outlets including Nelson Molloy, Dogstar, Ultra Suite, Blonde Venus, Lucid Laundry, Marz, Miss Marz and Maiocchi dominate Ann and Brunswick Streets, providing current local fashions and edgy urban styles while proving to be the best spots for style leaders looking to make a statement!

The Valley Markets, which sprawl through the Brunswick and Chinatown Malls every weekend until 4pm, are a unique Brisbane shopping experience. You'll find up and coming designer fashion and accessories as well as crafts, homewares and Asian gifts. (One of Brisbane’s biggest exports, fashionistas Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke, known for their label Sass & Bide, started selling their wares at the Valley Markets before trying their luck at London’s Portobello Road Market and hitting it big.) Chinatown's traditional Chinese supermarkets are the perfect place to find Asian ingredients, utensils and merchandise.

Ann Street

Contemporary gift and home wares store ModCons is one star on this shopping strip. Some others are designer boutiques Blonde Venus, Nelson Molloy and Ultra Suite. The Dr. Martens shop is an Ann Street mainstay.

Emporium

Stroll to the bottom of Ann Street to find the Valley's exclusive Emporium. From lifestyle to retail and everything in between, the Emporium is the place for quality imported and Australian goods, designer labels, gourmet delicacies and wine, sumptuous perfume, beauty products, beautiful books and other luxury items. Take your time and browse through Noosa Longboards, try on designer footwear at Maryon's, and experience all things European at Camargue. And for the discerning shopper, you must venture into Jean Brown, stockist of lust-after overseas brands like Balenciaga, John Galliano, Yves Saint Laurent and Manolo Blahnik – as well as hot local design talents Julie Grback and Chelsea de Luca.

Brunswick Street

Maiocchi and Lucid Laundry, sitting well amongst the street's trendy galleries, restaurants and bars, are definitely Brunswick Street's fashion focal points. A few doors down from Maiocchi is shoe and handbag haven Jules & Roc, which presents its luscious line-up of shoes in colour-coded order. If you're looking for a unique, quality, designer-made wearable piece or object, visit (m)art , which features an evolving range of products by Queensland and Australian designer-makers.

James Street

James Street boasts Palace Centro cinema complex, mouth-watering eateries and fresh food markets. There are also several exciting fashion retailers such as Mimco, Scanlan & Theodore, gorgeous children's and maternity-wear boutique Little Kisses and distinctive home wares stores d.i.g. and Magnolia Interiors. Shop 73 is the place to go for antique Danish rosewood furniture, imported European glass, rare Australian retro lamps and classic furniture. Of course, the flagship Sass & Bide store is a prominent icon on James Street.
