Q: Green Ant nests in the garden.
Have tried various methods to eradicate them but the ants just seem to move their nest to another location (but remain in my garden).
The ants are problematic for both adults and the young children in the garden (my 10 month old suffered over 20 bites). Hope you can assist, thanks Bob. Mark - Holland Park
A: There are several products on the market which could be tried - Searles Ant Kill-50, Drax Ant Kil Gel, Yates Ant Roach & Spider Killer, Hortico Ant and Roach Dust.
The one I favour and which I have used in Roma Street Parkland is based on an active ingredient called Bifenthrin, and is marketed under the trade names Maxguard and Brigade, made by two different manufacturers.
This gave me excellent results, but I do not know whether they come in small retail packs available to the home gardener. I bought them in 5kg containers, which is far too much for your use. You could possibly phone Globe Australia and Scotts Australia, and find out.
