National School Fortitude Valley
A shed adjoining the Lamb Inn (now the Royal George hotel, or the 'RG'), corner Ann and Brunswick Streets, was the first government primary school for children of the Valley in 1861. Classes began on 4 March 1861 and continued here until land was obtained in Brookes Street, Fortitude Valley as the site for a more permanent school.
