Fortitude Valley Girls' and Infants' School

photo: Fortitude Valley Girls' and Infants' School

This brick, two level, school building opened in 1867 as the Fortitude Valley State School. It was a mixed school - infants, girls and boys. From 1876 it operated as a girls' and infants' school and later as a girls only school until its closure in 1949. The building is heritage listed with the State Government and is currently the premises of a firm of architects. The former school is two doors west of the Fortitude Valley Police Station.
