Riverfire, Flurry of Gold

photo: Riverfire, Flurry of Gold

An explosion of gold bursts over the city as Riverfire unleashes its full splendour.

The image was taken using a WW2 era press camera - a Graflex Anniversary Speed Graphic - on Velvia 100 film, using a Staeble Magnogon 105mm copy / process lens, salvaged from a long-dismantled process camera. The Speed Graphic loads 4" by 5" sheet film, which means the slide of this shot alone is almost as big as a typical snapshot you get back from a minilab. Consequently, the slide can be enlarged enormously - up to four feet wide - with very little loss in detail.
