Brisbane's Fortitude Valley always has been, and still is, the nursery for our city's vital live music scene. Intimate venues and clubs have nurtured and developed the unique sounds coming from Brissie bands and we locals love to see them play.
Music buffs might also want to take a look at the display on the site of the old Festival Hall, corner of Charlotte and Albert streets. The old concert venue (also the original place to see boxing and roller derby) was demolished in 2003. In its place is an apartment building but in the foyer you can see a commemorative display with photos reminding us of the rich musical history of the site. Big names played at Festival Hall, including The Beatles, Bob Marley, U2, AC/DC, The Seekers and hundreds more.
But music in Brisbane isn't all about history and the past. No way! There's a pumping live and local music scene across the city today in venues such as The Tivoli and The Zoo. Crawl through our gig guide for live music acts of all genres on this week.
Who would you like to see on Brisbane's Walk of Fame and why?
