If you want to see one of the world’s richest agricultural valleys and visit quaint country towns then a day trip to the Lockyer Valley is a perfect way to spend the day. Nestled between Ipswich and Toowoomba, the valley has many natural offerings and scenic drives.

Highlights:
Laidley
Learn more about the history of the district at Laidley Pioneer Village (on the Cobb & Co Tourist Drive) which displays memorabilia and relics. The area was first settled by Europeans in 1820. For more information on Laidley visit the Lockyer Valley Regional Council website.
Narda Lagoon Native Gardens
This is a place for pleasant walks, a trip over a suspension bridge and a fun playground for the kids. If you haven’t packed a picnic, grab some food in the small town of Laidley.
Gatton
The valley has some of the richest agricultural land in the world. Whilst driving you will see a patchwork display of crops, including fruit and vegetables.
Equestrian Centre
The town’s Equestrian Centre often hosts weekend equestrian events.
Lake Apex
Lake Apex in Gatton is a fauna reserve and renowned bird watching area with a café, information centre, walking paths, picnic and playground facilities.
Glen Rock Regional Park
For nature lovers, drive 40 kilometres south of Gatton to visit Glen Rock Regional Park where you can camp, bushwalk or picnic.
Skydive and Balloon Rides
Adventurous people can skydive or take a balloon flight over the patchwork fields of crops.
Fresh fruit
On the drive back to Brisbane, be sure to stop at one of the large fruit barns well-stocked with fresh, local produce.
