The words ‘blonde' and ‘bombshell' seem made for each other. Whether you're a natural blonde or get your hair colour from a bottle, Oscar Cullinan, owner and director of Oscar Oscar Salons, has the tips for the best blondes of 2009.

According to Oscar, a stunning blonde depicts glamour, style and sex appeal. He cites famous blondes through the decades as cases in point. (Marilyn Monroe in the 50s, Marianne Faithfull in the 60s and Kate Moss for the 80s.)

"There are some stand-out starlets that I believe have the perfect look for 2009," states Oscar, "including our own Lara Bingle with her gorgeous golden blonde hair and the cool London girls with their punk-style platinum blonde crops!"

Here are Oscar's tips for the perfect shade of blonde for you.

The Golden Blonde

Lara Bingle represents my favourite golden blonde Aussie. This shade of blonde suits almost everyone and is the perfect tone to warm up your look during winter. The best way to achieve this is by going an all-over golden blonde, plus try incorporating lighter feature pieces around your face as highlights and make sure your colourist finishes your look by using a golden toner.

Platinum Blonde

This year the cool London kids such as Agyness Deyn and Pixie Geldof have been flying the platinum flag high and proud! This is a bold look and is high maintenance, but if you pull it off you will be guaranteed to turn heads. It is also a look best suited to shorter styles such as punky crops and textured bobs. To achieve this look your colourists will need to use ultra-bright highlights and it will need to be maintained every 3 - 4 weeks to keep it looking fresh.

Balayage Blonde

My favourite Balayage style blondes would have to be Sarah Jessica Parker and Gisele Bunchden. These girls have a great sun-kissed style that can be achieved through Balayge by blending golden and cream shades of blonde through your mid-lengths and ends. To keep this look current also make sure your colourist blends your re-growth and includes bolder contrasting pieces through the underneath, which will also allow you to take longer gaps between salon appointments.

If you've been longing to find out if blondes really do have more fun, then head on down to your hairdresser now. Make sure you bring Oscar's tips with you.
