Roundhouse Theatre stair terrace

On the edge of the CBD, Kelvin Grove is home to the multi award-winning inner-city development Kelvin Grove Urban Village, which includes the renowned Roundhouse Theatre, home of La Boite Theatre Company, and Queensland Institute of Technology’s Creative Industries Precinct. At its heart you will find residential apartments above a social hub of cafés, bars, restaurants and specialty shops, including a bakery, butcher, fresh fruit and vegetable markets and deli.

The Village Centre

It's the heart of the retail experience at the Kelvin Grove Urban Village, with a full-line supermarket (Woolworths), specialty shops and streetside cafés and restaurants. Along with the essential services (bakery, newsagency, pharmacy, fresh food outlets) there's also a single fashion store, Style Suite, which stocks Australian fashion for 18-28 year olds.

Kelvin Grove Road

Not to be missed, on nearby Kelvin Grove Road, is Eureka Street Furniture’s original store. The shop (now with 11 outlets across Queensland) specialises in modern and classic furniture made from new and recycled solid timber using century-old techniques. (Note to the eco-aware: Eureka Street Furniture was the first furniture retailer in Brisbane to make furniture from timber recovered from demolition sites like the Coca-Cola factory in James Street, Brett’s Wharves and the Roma Street Rail Yards.) Also available are leather lounges from Asia and modern designs in Victorian ash, European beech and Australian blackwood.
