This year's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival - Brisbane, hosted by Hilton is holding Queensland's first Fashion Forum & Breakfast on Tuesday 26 August featuring some of the country's preeminent fashion professionals who will discuss and debate the topic ‘Cutting Edge Design vs. Commercial Reality - the keys to success in an international marketplace'.
The business of fashion is not all sequins, models and champagne. Achieving success and ensuring longevity in the cut-throat and competitive fashion industry requires a balanced mix of creativity and business acumen.
Pamela Easton and Lydia Pearson of Easton Pearson, along with Leona Edmiston and National Womenswear buyer for David Jones, David Bush, will be taking part and Festival Director Lindsay Bennet said they will provide valuable insight into the commercial and tactical elements of the industry.
"Fashion can be a merciless industry to break into and I'd invite anyone passionate about fashion to come along and listen to the invaluable advice that will be on offer from some of the industry's most successful figures."
The featured guest speakers will speak candidly about a variety of issues pertinent to anyone attempting to succeed in the business realm, not just limited to the specific industry of fashion.
"Our guest presenters will cover a broad range of topics from where they derive their inspiration, to how they balance creative considerations with commercial implications, to the most invaluable lessons they've learnt throughout their careers," Lindsay said.
"Another subject area to be delved into is how to establish a successful presence in the international marketplace, given the myriad of complex factors associated with conception, production and consumption.
