One of Brisbane's older suburbs, Alderley is very hilly, with many homes enjoying views of surrounding suburbs and the city.

A prominent landmark is the heritage-listed Farrington House, built in 1882, and still one of the suburb's most graceful timber homes.

Alderley's many Queenslander-style homes have attracted restorers and renovators, but the suburb also features a growing number of townhouses and unit blocks.

Locals shop at either the local Alderley Plaza or the neighbouring (and more upmarket) Newmarket Shopping Centre.

Alderley is a leafy suburb, with plenty of green spaces, including the expansive Banks Street Reserve and Grinstead Park, a family favourite featuring a fabulous timber fort.
