Brisbane's most northern coastal suburb is Brighton. Only a half hour drive from the city, this is one of the loveliest and most relaxed suburbs you'll find. Brighton has glorious vistas just about everywhere you look. There's the beautiful Pine River, lined with mangroves, Moreton Bay with its long horizons and the old Hornibrook Bridge and Houghton Highway, which connects Brisbane with the Redcliffe Peninsula over Bramble Bay.

Brighton Beach has also become very well known for its kite surfing and the old Hornibrook Bridge is popular for fishing and walking. Hint: to avoid sun damage even on overcast days be sure to wear sunscreen and a hat. The cool sea breeze especially when walking over the bridge can disguise the heat of the sun.

Brighton has its own primary school and there are plenty of other schools in the neighbourhood as well as parks, the Eventide shopping precinct and the bikeways running along the foreshore.

Seaside living this close to the CBD has become highly sought after and Brighton is no longer one of Brisbane's cheap and forgotten suburbs. Instead it's become prime real estate, especially for families wanting their children to grow up with salt air instead of traffic fumes in their lungs.
