Across the road from Suncorp Stadium, behind bustling Caxton Street is a green haven for kids, adults and pooches.

Established trees provide plentiful shade on hot days and there’s the Ithaca Pool for those who want a cooling dip.

There’s a skate park, which seems to always be popular with skateboarders and BMX riders, a basketball cum tennis court, two children’s playgrounds and a dog park.

The playgrounds

The playground for slightly older kids is a wonderful web for climbing, swinging and balancing. On the day I was there, the kids were using it as an obstacle course and racing each other to complete a circuit.

For younger children, there’s a second playground with slides, a little boat they can climb into, swings and a simpler climbing platform.

Fun for everyone

One of the best things about this park is the number of possibilities it gives families. Your teenager can head to the pool or the skate park while your dog plays in the off-leash area, the baby swings and the bigger kids climb.
