Profile
Durack is 14km SSW from the Brisbane CBD and is an older suburb next door to Inala and Willawong. The area is fairly sparsely populated and most facilities are only available in neighbouring Inala and Forest Lake. These include schools, sporting and shopping facilities.
The suburb has undergone considerable land development for residential housing.
Inala has a considerable number of educational facilities including the Inala West Primary school, the Inala Primary School, Serviceton Primary, the Bremer Institute of TAFE and St Marks Catholic Primary.
Other community facilities include the Hock Davis Park, the Kev Hooper Memorial Park, and a cycle way.
The main shopping and commercial facility available to residents of Durack is also located in Inala at the Inala Plaza and Civic Centre.
According to the 2006 Census there were 6,119 people living in the suburb with a median age of 37. The median individual income was $391 per week. Of all occupied private dwellings 64.2% were either fully owned or being purchased; 23% were being rented.
