Kedron is 8km from the Brisbane CBD and is a family-oriented suburb offering numerous schools and recreational activities.
Newcomers to the area will find that walk and bike ways are available in and around the many picnic and barbeque spots in Mercer Park. The Scout Association is also active in the Kedron area.
For residents looking for more modern entertainment, Stafford City Shopping Centre and Westfield Shoppingtown Chermside offer two of the newest cinema complexes built on the north side of Brisbane along with game arcades, and in Westfield Chermside’s case, Ten Pin Bowling lanes.
The local shopping centres provide residents with all the major retailers, and are supplemented by Brookside Shopping Centre and Lutwyche Shopping Village a few kilometres further away.
Accommodating both Primary and Secondary school aged children are Kedron High School, Padua College, Mt Alvernia College, and in neighbouring suburbs, Wavell High School, Somerset Primary School, Stafford Heights and Stafford Primary Schools.
Regular and varied bus routes are the strength of the public transport around Kedron. Enoggera and Alderley rail stations are 10 minutes drive and Wooloowin Station is a 15 minute walk away from most parts of Kedron.
Its proximity to the City and excellent local facilities has made Kedron a popular choice resulting in an increase in demand for housing in the area over the last year. With no new developments on the plan, price growth in Kedron is expected to remain consistent.
According to the 2006 Census there were 8,118 people living in the suburb with a median age of 35. The median individual income was $569 per week. Of all occupied private dwellings 56.3% were either fully owned or being purchased; 37.8% were being rented.
