Family fun

For kids:

Parks for kids are great! Check out your local playground because parks in Brisbane have anything from skatebowls to toddler play. In your area try:

  • The Broadwater Picnic Grounds, Mansfield offers a walking and bike track and a pedal-powered velocitron.
  • Cresthaven Park at Mansfield also offers skating and basketball areas.
  • The Johnston Flora Reserve, Robertson and Whipbird Park, MacGregor are two of the many parks, with playgrounds, scattered throughout your local area.

For dogs:

Check out the local off-leash areas where Fido can release canine tension. For details and locations, see our list of Brisbane's best dog parks or try these ones in your local area:

  • DM Henderson Park at MacGregor, Abbeville Street Park, Mt Gravatt East
  • Boorabbin Picnic Ground, Wishart

Exercise

Pools:

Go for laps at the Hibiscus Sports Complex, Klumpp Road in Upper Mt Gravatt. (You'll double the exercise by walking there). For more pool locations see our list of Brisbane pools.

Parks:

For fitness and fun, try your nearest Active and Healthy Park including Hibiscus Sports Complex, Upper Mt Gravatt or the Wishart Community Park which has lots of walking and bike tracks. Why not join your local 'gonewalking' group for fitness or leisure walks with trained walk leaders? For details about walks in your area, phone Council on 3403 8888.

Discover the secrets of your local area. Wander around the delightful Toohey Forest - with more than 650 hectares of bushland, it is an important example of dry eucalypt forest in an urban environment. The forest hills and slopes provide a vital habitat for many native plants and animals.

Mt Gravatt Lookout is part of Toohey Forest and offers spectacular city views. Stroll along Bulimba Creek which weaves its way through the area, enjoy wildlife spotting along the creek banks.

Hi Patricia

Check out St Peter's Catholic Parish in Rochedale. Or you can also find information about Brisbane’s catholic churches, schools and services on the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane website.
