Snapshot
The Pullenvale Field Study Centre comprises the original schoolhouse (constructed in 1873), the teacher's residence and other historic buildings brought to the site. The little village of Mt Crosby grew around one of the notable landmarks - the Pumping Station, which served Brisbane faithfully for 100 years, despite going under four metres of water in the 1893 flood. Streets in Bellbowrie named after pioneers include Gibson Crescent, Hallett Close and Twine Place. The Rafting Ground Reserve got its name from the timber industry of the 1800s, when it was used as the launch place to float timber down Moggill Creek, then downstream along the Brisbane River to the sawmills. The University of Queensland Veterinary Farm at Pinjarra Hills was given to the University by Dr James O'Neill Mayne and his sister Mary in 1923.
Shopping

Indooroopilly has an entertainment arcade and cinemas. 1 4 A landmark in Moggill is Prior's Pocket (Termination Plains). It forms a section of land created by the snaking route of the Brisbane River. In John Oxley's survey of the river in 1823, he noted the rich flat lands of Prior's Pocket.
