Welcome to Mansfield
Mansfield is a comparatively new suburb of Brisbane named in 1967 after former Governor of Queensland, Sir Alan James Mansfield.
It is a mainly residential area once known for dairy and sheep farming and a sandstone quarry.
Broadwater Picnic Ground in Sandringham Street and Cresthaven Park in Banika Street are popular recreational areas with bike paths, barbecue and picnic areas, playgrounds and other facilities.
There are a number of schools and shops and getting around is easy with a regular bus service and close proximity to major roads and motorways.
Garden City and Carindale Shopping Centres are also only a short distance away.
A former student of Mansfield State High School is diver Matthew Mitcham, Olympic Gold Medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2008 Sports Performer of the Year.
