Welcome to Mt Coot-tha
Forming part of the Taylor Range, Mount Coot-tha formerly known as One Tree Hill, is a natural bushland reserve and non-residential area. Instead of houses there's the fabulous Mt Coot-tha Lookout, where you'll get a panoramic view of the city, Glasshouse Mountains, D'Aguilar Range and Moreton Bay. Visiting in the day is inspiring and at night it's magical when you see Brisbane defined by lights rather than by landscape.
At the top of Mt Coot-tha are the tall transmitter towers for the various television stations, along with some of the studios. The flashing lights at the top of the towers are visible for miles around Brisbane, enabling even the most geographically challenged residents to pinpoint Mt Coot-tha.
At the foot of Mount Coot-tha are the beautiful Botanical Gardens, where you can feed the ducks and admire the flora or take a trip round the galaxy in the planetarium. The Botanical Gardens are also home to many community events and festivals.
You can take a gentle walk around the gardens or head out to one of the many bushwalking tracks in the area. J C Slaughter Falls is one of the most popular areas for picnic and bush-walking.

Leighton says: I ride my bike up, tremendous pain. Roll my bike down, tremendous gain. Sunrise, balloons over the city. Sunset, never a sight so pretty. Romantic spots, none better. A glorious spot, whatever the weather. Sunny & clear, forever we see. Dark & stormy, look up - electricity."
