Richlands is a residential and industrial suburb, descriptively named because of its fertile agricultural land.
There are primary and high schools and the Bremer Institute of TAFE (Richlands Campus).
Construction has begun on a new railway line and station with 650 space carpark assuring the suburb of further development in future.
Queensland's Coca-Cola is created at Richlands and trucked around the state. The factory moved to Richlands in 1994 after leaving their old premises in Fortitude Valley.
