Visiting Sandgate with its historic buildings and bayside charm is like stepping into another place and time.

One of Sandgate's best known landmarks is the Sandgate Town Hall complete with clock tower. The building was designed by architect and former Sandgate Town Clerk, Thomas Ramsay. Equally fascinating and historic landmarks are the former Sandgate Post Office and the Baptist Church on the corner of Flinders Parade and Cliff Street.

With fresh sea breezes and endless views of the bay,  lovely shady picnic grounds and cycling and walking tracks, Sandgate is still one of Brisbane's favourite weekend escapes.

There are many community and performing arts events and festivals held at Sandgate each year including productions by Sandgate Theatre, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Colin says: Sandgate is Brisbane's own village by the sea; a picturesque bayside suburb with a strong sense of community; a friendly disposition towards visitors; a raft of colourful local identities; and a beautiful outlook over our wonderful bay. Sandgate is laid-back but not a backwater; a real gem in Brisbane's crown.
