Shorncliffe is one of Brisbane's hidden gems and those who've discovered its delights would like it to stay that way! Situated on the bay with views to Moreton Island, Shorncliffe has a sleepy coastal town feel and even an hour in its environs can leave you feeling rested and rejuvenated.

There are plenty of fish and chip outlets along the foreshore and there are few things more pleasant than eating a takeaway by the beach, with seagulls squawking and a salty breeze blowing the heat away. Children adore the mudflats where they can walk miles out and never be more than knee-deep in water. Pet owners throw balls for their dogs to chase into the water and there's always someone dropping a fishing line over the jetty.

Shorncliffe is a perfect location for any one who likes being outdoors or keeping fit. There are beautiful walkways with the bay on one side and parks on the other. You'll see children on bicycles with training wheels, dog owners walking their prized pooches - or swimming them in the tidal waters, families picnicking and plenty of joggers. If fitness is your thing, don't miss the Shorncliffe Circuit this December, or come along any day of the week to enjoy the great bicycle tracks.

Donna says: I love Shorncliffe. The smell of the ocean, the Moreton Bay views, the Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race, the lights of the Houghton Highway at night, the trawlers going out on their night journey, the pelicans and wildlife. What more could you ask for?
