Welcome to Stafford

Stafford has an industrial history as it was the centre for many tanneries and slaughterhouses in the 1900s. Apparently the smell and pollution wasn't pleasant. When the tanneries closed, it became a better place to live and was opened up to housing estates, mostly after World War II.

Kedron Brook makes up its southern border and there are wonderful easterly views from Sparkes Hill.

For decades, the Stafford Roller Skating rink has been the place to strap on your skates (and now blades) and there are cinemas at Stafford City shops for more entertainment.

Some of the prime streets in Stafford are those between Appleby and Webster Roads as they enjoy good elevation, some with city views and generous blocks.

Stafford is about 7km from Brisbane’s CBD. Over 31% of households in this area are comprised of couples with children, 40% are couples without children and 24% are single parent families. Stand alone house account for 85% of all dwellings in this area, and units account for a further 11%. Most of the homes in this area were built during and just after the Second World War. Many of them have been stunningly renovated, and generally the houses are on good sized blocks with reasonable back yards.

The median house price in Stafford in 2006 was $312,750.
