Welcome to Tingalpa

The eastern suburb of Tingalpa was once a farming area known for sugar, vineyards and dairying. There was also an American base at Tingalpa during World War Two.

Nowdays Tingalpa is a fast growing residential and industrial area with many facilities and conveniently located near major roads and the Gateway Motorway. It's only a short drive away from the bayside suburb of Wynnum and close to major shopping centres at Carindale and Cannon Hill.

Minnippi Parklands in Stanworth Road West is a popular recreational area with natural wetland, picnic areas, playground, walking and cycling tracks and canoe trails along Bulimba Creek. The Tingalpa Model Aero Club forms part of the park.

On Wynnum Road is the heritage-listed Anglican Christ Church and Cemetery dating from 1868 although the original church was rebuilt in 1886 following a cyclone.

Statistics

Tingalpa is only about 10km from Brisbane’s CBD. Over 48% of households in this area are comprised of couples with children and a further 16% are single parent families. Stand alone house account for 80% of all dwellings in this area, with units and townhouses making up a further 14%. Tingalpa has many new residential developments as well as some older, post-war houses.

Annette says: We have wonderful stores & cinema nearby at Carindale, the Belmont Tavern have very good meals, Carina Leagues Club is great for food, entertainment, kids facilities and staff are friendly. Tingalpa has very easy access to the north & south coast via gateway. 20minutes to the City and very handy to everything. It is great living here.
