Opening 19 May 2008 to buses

Buses will use the Inner City Busway from 19 May onwards. It was built to save minutes of travel time through congested CBD streets for many bus routes and connect the existing Queen Street busway with Roma Street.

Changing bus stops

With the opening of the busway comes changes to where you can catch buses in the city centre. More than 120 routes are affected as bus stops are moved from the streets into the bus stations at King George Square and Roma Street. Check with Translink or phone 13 12 30 for information about changes to your bus route and possible timetable changes too.

There are some new bus routes starting, including service 66 using the busways between Wooloongabba and QUT Kelvin Grove.

Check about changes to your bus before the starting date of 19 May to avoid inconvenience.

New bicycle facilities

Part of the Inner City Busway project included the construction of fantastic new facilities for bike riders. Anyone who rides into the city will be able to use the bike racks, amenities and lockers underneath King George Square.

New Transport Information Centre

The King George Square bus station will also be home to a brand new Transport Information Centre. If you’ve got queries about transport in South East Queensland, head to the centre for help from 19 May.
