NRMA Insurance customers impacted by Sunday’s storms are getting practical help from the insurer’s Major Event Rapid Response Vehicle (MERRV) at the Community Recovery Centre in Ashgrove.
Customers are able to lodge and follow up on claims at the emergency van, get retail vouchers for emergency provisions, request emergency accommodation and get information on assessments and repairs.
NRMA Insurance Queensland State Manager Brett Robinson said emergency repairs and assessments were well underway, and that builders and tradespeople would continue to be allocated as quickly as possible.
“Our main priority is to ensure impacted customers are getting the right help fast,” he said.
“Customers can lodge claims over the phone 24 hours, but we’re also providing additional support on the ground with the NRMA Insurance MERRV.
“The MERRV includes a 4WD with satellite dish, plus a mobile customer service office so claims can be lodged and managed on the spot.”
Temporary accommodation is being sought for NRMA Insurance customers whose homes are uninhabitable.
“These are stressful and emotional times for households with damage,” he said.
“Many customers have indicated they prefer to stay with friends and family but others may not have that option. We want to ensure those that require accommodation have somewhere comfortable and convenient to stay while we get on with repairs to their homes.”
NRMA Insurance customers with home or car damage should phone Teleclaims on 131 123.
The NRMA Insurance MERRV is located at 7 Firhill St, Ashgrove.
