Australia Day 2010

On Australia Day, January 26, we come together as a nation to celebrate what’s great about Australia and being Australian.

While 26 January is the anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet of 11 convict ships from Britain in 1788, the public holiday is traditionally a time for backyard barbecues and cricket, for zinc-smeared noses and eskies filled with beer.

It’s also a time for looking at our achievements and celebrating our prospects, which is what the business community does when it gathers together for the annual Australia Day Lunch. This prestigious event showcases a lively program of entertainment plus the announcement of the 2010 Australia Post Australia Legends Award.

People will be celebrating all over Brisbane this year. Check out some of the events listed below and enjoy being Australian.
