Via films, music, food and coffee every Australian knows something of Italian culture. And now all the best parts of that passionate country are on show in Brisbane as part of Queensland’s official Italian Festival, an initiative of the Italian Consulate.
Food lovers, car nuts and arts buffs are all catered for in the 2008 program of events. There will be amazing performances of opera at South Bank Piazza and the Puccini Spectacular at St John’s Cathedral. For anyone who loves Italian food (who doesn’t?) Sirianni’s delicatessen will have gourmet delights to try and Di Bello coffee will open the roasting factory to those who want to learn more. La Dolce Vita on Park Road Milton will be the venue for a stylish closing party.
When it comes to good design, the Italians know a thing or two. Get in the know with Brisbane’s own Italian-inspired fashion from Elio Moda. Or admire the sleek lines of Italian cars such as Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Maserati and Lamborghini on show at South Bank.
South Bank’s Piazza will be filled with musical performances of a world standard and art lovers can see a sculpture exhibition by Sebastian Di Mauro at QUT Art Museum.
The Consulate of Italy has worked with The Pellegrino Scholarship, Southbank Corporation, New Realm Media and many of Brisbane’s Italian organisations to bring the essence of Italy to Brisbane.
So live La Dolce Vita (the sweet life) the Brisbane way and immerse yourself in the taste, colour and beauty of Italian Week 2008.
