South Bank Lifestyle Market
Are you thinking of having a market stall to sell your handmade crafts, unique art, fresh produce or pre-loved goods?
Then you’ll need to get in touch with the organiser of the market you wish to attend.
There are many markets held in Brisbane so do some research on which one will best suit your goods. Visit the markets, talk to current stall holders and give it a go!

There's a relaxed vibe on Sunday mornings and stalls are limited to organic food, natural skin care and a small range of clothing. If that's your type of product, give them a call.
Forest Lake Markets
This market encourages new stall holders so give them a ring to chat about the options.
Portside Boutique Markets
These Portside markets boast hand-picked stall holders, selling designer and unique items only. Apply to trade if you are an artist, designer, stylist, crafter or artisan.
Valley Markets
These Saturday and Sunday markets are managed by Brisbane City Council and they have detailed guidelines and stall holder information (PDF 80KB). These markets are great for budding fashion designers and people with something unusual to sell and it is possible to book a stall on a casual basis.
Brookwater Gourmet Markets
Held twice a month, read the information for stall holders, with guidelines.
South Bank Lifestyle Market
The market website has detailed information about the costs, sizes and insurance coverage of a stall. All stall holders need to apply for a site, following the guidelines for the types of products suitable for the various markets.
The Young Designers Market is held on the first Sunday of the month while the Lifestyle Markets are on weekly.
Brisbane North Family Market
At the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Boondall, this is one of Brisbane’s newer markets. The Brisbane North Family Market is set up in the car park and there are different prices for a space, depending on what you are selling. You can choose to leave your car with your stall or remove it before trading begins. Apply to have a stall, either casual or permanent and read the rules and guidelines.
Horses for courses...
Make sure you know which market will be the best place to sell your product. Do some research by visiting many markets, talking to stall holders and figuring out the costs and commitment involved for various locations. How much will you need to sell to make a profit?
Some of the best markets for people wanting to sell their second-hand goods include:
- Ferny Grove (talk to organiser on site)
- Chandler (talk to organiser on site)
- Rocklea Sunday Markets
- Brisbane North Family Market
Farmers markets are not the appropriate place to sell used goods and there are often restrictions on what can be sold at specialised markets.
Tips for amateur stallholders
- Be in the shade. Check if your stall will be shaded or if you need to BYO (a sun umbrella etc.)
- Come prepared with a float (i.e. lots of change)
- Be prepared for people to haggle, especially if you are selling second-hand goods
- Record your purchases, especially if you want to hold a stall again and need to know what sold best and what didn’t
- Pack a tarp in case of rain – to throw over your goods
- Have signage, pens, markers, sticky tape in supply
- Bring a chair, a book, snacks and water
