If you love browsing in markets, but don’t want the big-crowd experience, try the Redcliffe Jetty Markets.

These very relaxed markets, right on the water’s edge overlooking Moreton Island, offer a good assortment of handmade items (such as jewellery, arts and crafts, baby clothes, leather goods) as well as home-baked goodies, plants and fresh produce. This is not a market for lovers of bric-a-brac – the stalls all sell new or fresh-food items – but it’s a treasure trove of one-of-a-kind and appealing products.

Shady trees provide respite from the sun on hot days, and for families, a visit to the markets could be followed by a stroll down to nearby Suttons Beach – Redcliffe’s only patrolled swimming beach – where the kids can go for swim or burn off energy in the great playground. (There are also barbeques, covered picnic tables and public toilets).

Our reviewer noted several café-style stalls at the market: “There was a pancake stall doing a good trade, as well as a lady cooking a barbeque – smelt fantastic, plenty of people wanting a sausage sambo!”

There are plenty of eating options as the markets are opposite a street lined with busy cafés offering breakfast and lunch.

Our reviewer’s summary: “The Jetty Markets are great for browsing after brekkie…very relaxing, nice, calming atmosphere.”

this market is great for finding that special gift for the hard to buy person,it has many unique and quirky handcrafts as well as the best fudge you will ever find. Its also great for doing the weekly fruit, vegetable and meat shopping with plenty of variety in the one place. The beef jerky stall is a big hit in our house it carries some south african treats as well.A truly good day out for all of the family

I love the local Redcliffe market. I get my meat & veg from there each Sunday. It's lovely to walk along looking at all the bric-a-brac, bargains and one of a kind gift idea's.

The location is beautiful, relaxing and peaceful. Plenty of shops are nearby so you can browse them too. Cafes across from the beach so you can have a bite to eat.

I recommend it to all!

Rumour has it that they council will get another lease drawn up but after febuary 2010 it is a bit iffy about if they will be aloud to continue. If you are concerned chat to the orinisers or talk to the RSL club to see the pro's and cons of keeping the jetty markets open.. a true shame. it works so well there and the atmosphere is incredible. i'm just happy that they are open midday on a sunday.
