Angelina Jolie has confirmed she has taken over the role originally written for Tom Cruise in new spy thriller " Salt".
"I'm working on a film called "Salt"," Jolie told the BBC. "And it's with [Bone Collector director] Phillip Noyce. And that's it."
Cruise had originally taken on the lead role in "Salt" but, after he dropped out, the studio decided to go with Jolie. Screenwriter Kurt Wimmer rewrote the film's script to change the lead character from a man to a woman after she came on board.
Due out in 2010, the film centres on a CIA officer accused of being a Russian sleeper spy, who goes on the run after being accused of plotting to assassinate the president.
