The Oscars will be bigger than ever in 2010.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, when the nominees for the 82nd Academy Awards are announced in February there will be a whopping 10 films vying for best picture.
The best picture category has traditionally been limited to five nominees, though it hasn't always been that way in the first years of the Academy Awards, the number of movies tapped for best picture often swelled to 10 or more.
The move was reportedly driven by critics and moviegoers complaining that too many movies were being left out of contention for best picture.
The 82nd Academy Awards are slated to be held in early March.
