The 2008 festival will feature a broad range of art-forms including music, dance, literature, film, craft, cooking, photography, improvisation, cultural heritage, roving artists, children’s and family activities and diverse food stalls.
Here's a few highlights:
Afri-Can-Do
An expose of some engaging cultural initiatives by Queensland-based Africans. Workshops, join-in activities and performances, Afri-can-do can't be missed.
Sri Lankan Lantern Procession
As the sun sets on the Queensland Multicultural Festival, the lake stage jetty will sparkle majestically with the light of lanterns as members of the Queensland Buddhist Vihara community hold a procession around the lake with dancing and lanterns at twilight.
Same Heartbeat Festival Procession
A cross-cultural rhythmic celebration featuring community drumming groups from Brazil, Kenya, Ghana, Sri Lanka, Eritrea, Sierra Leone and Burundi. The procession will start on the Lake Lawn and finish in the Amphitheatre.
Freestyle Football with Queensland Roar
Meet Big Wal, Queensland Roar players and mascot Roary the Lion and join in the fun, freestyle football.
Diversity Writes World of Stories
A very special event for families and children hosted by the State Library Queensland. Families can join in the fun at the Story Tent and discover the oral tradition behind stories from around the world through readings, painting and music.
