The story and music of The Carpenters, by a pair of hilarious country hicks who share the same name.
The Carpenters are back! No, not Karen and Richard, but Darren and Sharon Carpenter... from Kempsey.
Darren and Sharon Carpenter are twins, born six months apart, from Kempsey. They never really fitted into life on the farm, and they were absolutely hopeless at just about everything.
Until that magical day they discovered one of Dad's old vinyl records - those "other Carpenters" made famous, including Close To You, Yesterday Once More, Ticket To Ride, Rainy Days and Mondays, Calling Occupants, Jambalaya, Mr Postman, Top Of The World, Superstar, Goodbye To Love, Only Yesterday, There's A Kind Of Hush, Love Is Surrender, and We've Only Just Begun.
As well as the odd parody and theme song, Darren and Sharon are truly country hicks. When they talk they're from Kempsey, but when they sing they pay homage to the beautiful sounds of The Carpenters.
The show is hysterically funny and the songs are so memorable you can't help but sing along.
"Delightful, hilarious and highly enjoyable - I loved reliving the songs of my youth with The Carpenters from Kempsey..." Ian Phipps, ABC Radio
